Coastal
“Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.”
– Camille Pissarro, 1830-1903.
Introduction
I am lucky enough to live just a few miles from Somerset’s beautiful coast, which borders the mighty Bristol Channel, one of the largest estuaries in the UK. With its ever-changing light, soaring cliffs of red earth and fossil-rich yellow and grey stone, it’s known by local residents as the Severn Sea. Its quaint harbours such as Minehead, Porlock Weir, and Watchet are magnets for any artist.
